New Affinity Credit Union Model
Structure
The new Affinity Credit Union structure is unique to Saskatchewan.
It will have a District Based governance model. There will be 9 Districts, which includes two Districts in the Saskatoon market and a First Nations District.
Members will elect Delegates (District Council Members) from their respective District.
Delegates will elect Board Director(s) from their respective District.
Board Directors will be elected from the nine Districts. Each District will have a minimum of one Board Director. After 2009 the Board Directors representation from each district will be proportional to the number of members therein.
Existing Board Directors from FirstSask and Affinity, along with two new Board members from the First Nations District will form the 25 member Board for the new credit union on January 1, 2008. Nokomis will be allocated one District Council Seat.
A transition plan is in place that will see the number of Board Directors reduced to 19 members after the 2009 elections and annual meeting of members.
